Bannockburn, Stirling

Bannockburn is now a part of Stirling and takes its name from the Bannock Burn. It is famous for the Battle of Bannockburn in June 1314 between the Scots and the English where Robert The Bruce and the Scots beat the English army headed by Edward ll although outnumbered by three to one. The victory cleared the last English troops from Scotland and secured Scottish independance, confirming Robert as King of the Scots.

The Bannock Burn is crossed by a bridge designed by Thomas Telford who is renowned throughout the world for his engineering skills. The bridge is best viewed from the park below.

Telford Court is located next to the Bannock Burn and the Telford Bridge and is named after it. Our apartment has views over the Burn from the living room and bedroom windows.
